Malta the ever growing fund administration domicile

Amicorp Fund Services, has expanded its global footprint by opening a fully fledged office in Malta. The Malta company, Amicorp Fund Services Malta Ltd. which recently got its licence by the MFSA, will assist international promoters and clients with fund set-up, NAV calculation, shareholder, corporate management, compliance, legal and corporate secretarial services..

“We have been following Malta’s consistent rise to the international arena for quite some time”, comments Toine Knipping, CEO of the Amicorp Group of companies. “In theory at least, there is nothing that other countries can offer which Malta could not, given that Malta can offer a regulatory regime and tax environment as attractive as its rivals. We foresee tremendous opportunities here in Malta and expect to attract many international clients.”

Claudio Cecchini, Global Head of Amicorp Fund Services, confirms: “The rapid growth in the number of funds in Malta, especially Professional Investor Funds, is a testament to the island’s attractiveness to international promoters. We clearly see a continued interest ranging from Latin-America to Asia, aimed at getting access to the EU markets in general and Malta in particular. There is an ongoing trend to set up or re-domicile Funds as well as Fund Managers in jurisdictions that have a more stringent regulatory framework. On top of that ‘having a UCITS Fund’ is luring and remains high on the agenda of many Fund Managers.” Also, according to Mr. Cecchini, the expected implementation of the EU Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers in 2011 offers additional opportunities in the long run for jurisdictions such as Malta.

Rudolph Psaila, Managing Director of Amicorp Fund Services Malta Ltd., concurs, saying: “Over the recent months, Malta has continued enjoying a prosperous period, experiencing constant growth in its funds industry. Redomiciliation of offshore funds into Malta is proving very attractive, in particular for fund managers looking to transfer funds to an EU jurisdiction with a well calibrated array of fund legislation and a cost base that is very competitive when compared to its competitors. Amicorp Fund Services Malta, with its extensive network supported by an experienced and professional team, would undoubtedly be at the forefront in promoting Malta and in offering the right solution to international clients, whether they are private equity, venture capital, hedge, retail or fund of funds.
